Fairmount Sherpa

The tug ‘Fairmount Sherpa’ has successfully towed jack-up drilling rig ‘Baharia I’ to her new position in the Zeit Bay oil field in the Gulf of Suez.

A new tug ‘Yong Gang Tuo 29’, built specifically for ship-handling operations in the Ningbo Port area, has recently been delivered to her owners, the Ningbo Port Group of China, from Zhenjiang Shipyard.

Fairmount tows rig for 8,600km

Fairmount Marine’s tug ‘Fairmount Alpine’ has delivered the semi submergible drilling rig ‘Ocean Yorktown’ safely in Brownsville, US, after an 8,600-kilometre tow from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Maritime New Zealand director Catherine Taylor yesterday declared that ‘Rena’, the containership grounded off Tauranga, was “hazardous” and issued the owner Costamare with notices under section 248 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994.

Fairmount’s FPSO

Fairmount Marine’s tugs ‘Fairmount Sherpa’ and ‘Fairmount Summit’ have delivered the floating production storage and offloading unit FPSO ‘Skarv Idun’ to its final position in the northern Norwegian Sea, having already towed the unit from South Korea earlier this year.

Malaysia-based shipbuilder Nam Cheong has landed a US$13.9 million contract with with offshore marine company Omni Marissa for an anchor handling tug/supply vessel, reports the Malaysia Star.
