Serious Health Risks in Gulf Oil Spill

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico poses serious health risks for the people who are working to clean it up and others who venture into the coastal area, scientists say in a commentary in The Journal of the American Medical Association.

The number of properties in Allegheny County that were leased for oil and gas exploration increased by 322 percent between 2008 and 2009, researchers at the University of Pittsburgh said Monday.

Woodside Petroleum Ltd. Santos Ltd. and Oil Search Ltd. are expected to report buoyant first half results, strengthened by a higher oil price, although investors will be more interested in the progress of their massive gas export projects.
