ONGC is Asia’s top oil firm.

ONGC has pipped China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to become Asia’s top oil and gas exploration and production company, as per Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings announced in Singapore yesterday. In the rankings, that rated world’s leading oil and gas, power and coal firms, ONGC climbed to 18th slot from 26th position in 2009 rankings. Besides, ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation), Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), National Thermal Power Corporation and Gas Authority of India Limited have been ranked as the number 1 companies in Asia in their respective industries.

Federal land managers say the sale of oil and gas rights on 94 parcels in Wyoming netted nearly $14 million. The Bureau of Land Management sale took place Tuesday. The BLM says the state of Wyoming will get almost half of the bids and rental receipts.

layton Williams Energy Inc. on Wednesday said it earned $11.6 million in the third quarter after posting a loss a year ago. The Texas oil and gas company reported income amounted to 96 cents a share for the three-months ended Sept. 30.
