More and more ships escape from Pirates

Piracy on the world’s seas has risen to record levels, with Somali pirates behind 56 percent of the 352 attacks reported this year, according to the International Maritime Bureau (IMB)’s latest global piracy report. However, more Somali hijack attempts are being thwarted by strengthened anti-piracy measures.

Damen Shipyards Singapore has announced the sudden death of its managing director, Pieter Kalis. Pieter was struck by a fatal pulmonary embolism on a flight from Singapore to the Netherlands on Saturday.
