One dead, one missing in Rotterdam Port accident

During harbour assistance in the Port of Rotterdam, the tug ‘Fairplay-22’ capsized on November 11 at about 4pm, according to a statement from Fairplay Towage. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has announced that the company has established a joint venture with two local companies in Vietnam to establish a tug business. Cheoy Lee has announced the delivery the first two azimuth stern drive tugs in a three-vessel order.

Carrizo Oil to sell 3.5 million shares

Independent crude oil and natural gas producer Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. said  that it will sell 3.5 million shares of its common stock in a public offering to fund its development of two fields. Brisbane based Exoma Energy signed a farm in agreement with CNOOC, a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation , in Beijing.

Singapore to boost marine & offshore sector

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is setting aside S$30 million to start research programmes in the oil and gas equipment and services sector. The National Energy Board has kicked off its Arctic offshore drilling review by meeting with territorial and federal leaders in the North. Deep Down, Inc. an oilfield services company specializing in complex deepwater and ultra-deepwater oil production distribution system support services, announced it has commenced support related to the installation of surface and subsea hardware offshore West Africa as previously announced April 22, 2010.

BP Weighs North Sea Asset Sales


BP PLC is sounding out other energy companies about selling off North Sea assets valued at $1 billion, as it seeks funds to pay for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Canada’s oil and gas industry is urging the international community not to reach a deal that would punish their member companies and the Canadian economy. Australian oil and gas fields in the Indian Ocean face a high risk of being battered by cyclones over the next two weeks if current weather patterns continue.

Tehran and Seoul, Korea sign Gas deal

Iran and a South Korean company have recently signed a $750-million contract for carrying out a project in giant South Pars gas field. The shale gas boom in the United States has been something of a mixed blessing for independent oil and gas companies. A drilling contract has been executed to drill a well on the Amazon Prospect from mid-December, with Australian companies Tango Petroleum Quest Petroleum and Transerv Energy all having an interest.

Canadian shipbuilders to design new coast guard vessels

The Canadian government has announced that contracts have been awarded for the design of the Canadian Coast Guard’s new offshore science vessels. Hyundai Merchant Marine has announced that it had achieved $2.1 billion in sales and $139 million in operating profit in the second quarter of 2010.

Rail facility at Korean port opens

DP World-operated Pusan Newport Company (PNC) has announced the opening of the first on-dock rail at its Korean facility. Total container trade through the Port of Melbourne set a new national record in October, handling over 214,000TEU for the month. The National Port Authority in Namibia has announced that it will invest approximately US$14 million for port expansion projects at the Port of Walvis Bay.

Obama to ban drilling for oil and gas

The Washington Post report that the Obama Administration is going to announce that it is going to ban oil and gas drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. The Vancouver-based Canadian-share market listed company says it is aiming for “substantial” production growth in Taranaki.

Shell and Gazprom in oil and gas alliance

The Royal Dutch Shell and Gazprom have formed a strategic alliance little more than three years after a dispute in which the multinational was forced to cede control of the giant Sakhalin II oil and gas project to the Russian company. Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, and neighbor Kuwait seek to add natural gas supply to avoid burning crude and refined products to generate power.

Ghana Offshore to produce 55,000 Barrels per day

Tullow Oil PLC said Monday the Jubilee field offshore Ghana will flow its first oil on schedule Dec. 15 and will immediately be capable of producing 55,000 barrels a day. REpower Systems and the Belgian offshore project development company C-Power have signed a contract for the delivery of 48 REpower 6M turbines. Maersk Oil said Saturday it has been awarded a licence covering Block 9 in Baffin Bay, offshore West Greenland.
